Description
This basket flower glows as if lit from within, reminding us that true beauty is on the inside. We can all shine if given an environment rich with the proper nourishment and encouragement for our bodies and souls. Without it, our spirits wither and wilt.
I can't help but draw a parallel to children blossoming into avid readers when given books and mentorship. I'm privledged to be able to volunteer in my daughter's school and help make this happen. It is a joy to see! Not all children have an environment that nurtures them, which is why I also support organizations such as TheChildrensAdvocacyCenter.org which work to defend and protect our society's most precious resource - our children.
Continuing my collaboration with wildflower photographer Steven Schwartzman: his photographic portrait of a basket flower, also known as Centaurea americana, inspired this piece. For this floral artwork I chose simplicity. I wanted to enhance the inner light and beauty of the flower to tell a story free from distractions. Curious about the photo which inspired this artwork?
