"Arrows" is a painting of a young woman with three arrows in her back by artist Nikki Smith.
My musical inspirations for this painting include Jon Bon Jovi's song "You Give Love a Bad Name" (with the lyrics "Shot Through the Heart, and You’re to Blame" - a ballad from my youth to be sung at full volume), and Trevor Hall's song "Arrows" - I love the lyrics:
"This journey has got me bleeding,
A certain kind of feeling ...
Over the moon and through stars,
Arrows come straight for my heart."
While painting this portrait, I also listened to "Arrow" by Half-Alive (“Between the finish and the start...an arrow in your heart”), and an entire playlist of songs about love and arrows. Who knew there were so many! True love, broken hearts, and following your path were some of the lyrical themes.
